We have been asked by Margaret and Marjorie to co-ordinate the catering arrangements for the visit. We thought you might find it useful to see the plan, so you can think about how you could help.

We met some of La Steph team over Easter.  They are very much looking forward to singing with us again and we will need everyone’s help to make the visit a great success.  Obviously those of you who are hosting will bear the major part of the load, so it would be super if non-hosts could pick something you would like to do to ensure all goes well.

There are two main events that will require help from choir members:

Thursday July 11th both choirs are rehearsing in the afternoon before the concert.  We will be providing a tea for 100 people:  ourselves and our guests.       This will be an afternoon tea, with sandwiches and scones with jam and cream (which we will provide).  Tea/coffee and soft drinks will be provided. We need people to sign up to provide a sliced loaf’s worth of sandwiches and plates of 12 medium sized scones.  We will have sandwich suggestions!

Friday July 12th – Farewell social and supper.  This will be in the Abbey School, who are also kindly providing the plates etc and well as washing the dishes after the event. The evening will start at 6.00 pm with aperitifs.   To make this as simple as possible, we will be providing a main course cold chicken dish and a non-meat alternative.  There will be a list of three recommended salads as accompaniments, for which we will provide the recipes, and hope to have volunteers to make them.   Bread and a cheese course will be provided. We then hope to offer our usual selection of wonderful desserts made by choir members.  Wine and soft drinks will be provided.

A form will be circulated around three weeks before asking you to sign up for various options to help for both events, including food preparation and table preparation.
The rest of the week the hosts will be supplying sandwiches and meals as required according to the programme.  A summary of catering requirements is as below.

Thank you very much for your invaluable help.
Liz Harrison and Tina Reynolds

Monday – supper with hosts

Tuesday – rehearsals – packed lunch and evening supper provided by  hosts.  If you have a non-singing guest a lunch out has been planned for them with a visit, organised by Jim Reynolds and Anne Muller (Chris Elven’s wife)

Wednesday – Winchester day out with a packed lunch provided by hosts.  Evening supper with hosts

Thursday – Lunch with hosts (this needs to be the main meal of the day, but early as rehearsal starts at 2.30 pm) Tea provided at rehearsal, as above.  Post concert choir members may like to co-ordinate a get together in their own area?

Friday –  Breakfast and lunch with host.   Evening: Farewell supper (see above)

Saturday –  Guests depart after breakfast.  Ask guests if they want to take a packed lunch or snack on their journey.

Our thriving choir is always keen to welcome new members. We are a friendly bunch, who love to sing, socialise and generally have a good time. We also enjoy visiting our friends in the French Alps, La Stephanelle, and making Music together.

So if you think this sounds like the place for you do get in touch.
